Pro-Life Precedent for 2017 Set With Reconciliation

News Release:

Last night the U.S. Senate passed a reconciliation bill that dismantles Obamacare and defunds Planned Parenthood and reallocates their taxpayer dollars to comprehensive health care centers. This legislation is now on President Obama's desk for consideration where he is expected to veto it.

Tami Fitzgerald, executive director for the North Carolina Values Coalition and the state director for Susan B. Anthony List releases the following statement:

"Planned Parenthood receives half a billion dollars in federal funding every year, despite the egregious revelation this year that they have been performing late term abortions and selling the body parts of the infants they abort. This legislation re-directs that funding to legitimate organizations that are providing true healthcare for women and their families. We are especially thankful and proud of our North Carolina Senators Richard Burr and Thom Tillis for their YES vote on this reconciliation legislation. They, and 52 other senators from around the country knew that voting to reflect the will of the people was the right thing to do. President Obama's threatened veto highlights the need for a pro-life President who will actually sign this bill, and we are actively working to make sure North Carolina does it part to make that happen." -- Tami Fitzgerald, executive director of North Carolina Values Coalition and state director of Susan B. Anthony List.
